The world poker Hollywood poker open took place in Indiana last week. Play started on Wednesday and ran into Thursday morning and provided some exciting play and of course some world class skill from some of the most successful international poker players of the moment. The final 3 players at the tournament were William Reynolds, Mike Scarborough and world famous Erik Seidel. It was eventually the least well known of the three, Mike Scarborough who took down the event and scooped first price of $273,664. Reynolds went out at 2.30am local time and it was just 30 minutes later when Scarborough was able to see off Siedel to claim the prize and his first major title.
Seidel was looking to win another title in 2011, but was unable to seal the deal. Nevertheless he managed to walk away with a handsome $155,103 in prize money. This takes his total prize money won in 2011 to nearly $4.5 million, which is nearly $1 million per month! His total prize winnings during his career stand at $14,823,022 making him one of the most
successful and profitable players in the world.
The chip counts at the final table were as follows:
Seat 1. Andy Whetstone – 80,500
Seat 2. Erik Seidel – 645,000
Seat 3. Ali Eslami – 213,000
Seat 4. Tom Marchese – 175,000
Seat 5. Mike Scarborough – 654,500

Mike Scarborough went into the heads up battle against Erik Seidel with a much larger chip stack and was able to secure the deal with a jack high straight. He was absolutely delighted to walk away the winner which is his first major win on the international poker circuit. No doubt we will be seeing a lot more of him over the coming years. Congratulations to all the players who took part in this event!
