History seems to be repeating itself at the Poker Stars North American Poker Tour. A year ago Vanessa Selbst ended day 3 of this event with the largest stack of chips amongst the remaining players. Just 2 days later Selbst then went on to win the tournament. 2011 seems to be following the same pattern. The end of day 3 of the NAPT recently drew to a close with guess who as the chip leader? That’s right, Vanessa Selbst seems to be doing it again. With over 1 million chips she has around 400,000 more than anyone else in the competition. At just 26 years old, history could well be made on this particular World Poker Tour event. No one has won the same event in consecutive years in any World Poker Tour event. It will be remarkable is this former law student can pull it off.
There were 74 players who started day 3 of this poker event, with just the top 56 getting paid. Some of those who left without a penny to show for their trouble were Todd Terry, Greg Dyer, David Robinson and Roonie Bardah. Alan Sternberg also went out without landing in the money. He was hoping to better his performance from last year when he came twelfth. The official bubble boy was Nick Binger who went out in 57th place. Luckily for him he has a very balanced and zen like attitude for landing on the bubble which he showed later when declaring that “bubbling builds character."
The final day sees the remaining 24 players battle it out for the prize fund and the glory. We wish all the players the best of luck and await patiently to see is Selbst can bring this title home for the second year in a row!
