It was all eyes on Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu and Victor “Isildur1” Blom last week as they took part in the PokerStars Superstar Showdown. 20 year Isildur1 stunned onlookers as he removed $150,000 off Negreanu in just 4 hours. Inside of 1300 hands, Swedish player Isildur1 had claimed the vast majority of Negreanu’s bank roll and left him reeling in his wake. Negreanu vowed to take revenge however and used the following match held a week later to recoup his chips. Luckily for Negraneau he was successful and eventually left the 4-table, 2500-hand, $50 / $100 match with $25,500 off Isildur1. The incredible turnaround Negreanu managed to pull off was quite a spectacle and due in part to the intense practice he admitted to carrying out between matches.
Negreanu was clearly impressed by his opponent who he described as “awesome” and a better online player than himself. Nice feedback from one of the world’s most successful poker players and in second place on the all time live-poker money list. There is no doubt that this particular Superstar Showdown will be long remembered as an extraordinary and exciting event. Next week the Superstar Showdown on Pokerstars will see Isildur1 back in action this time against Scott “UrnotinDanger2” Palmer.
The Superstar Showdown is a very high stakes, heads up match that consists of just one session during which 2500 hands are played. It was introduced by PokerStars to celebrate the addition of Isildur1 to the PokerStars team. Anyone is invited to take part, so long as they have the bank roll that is. If you are keen to take on Isildur1, the world’s most infamous high-stakes online cash game player then you can! It’s heart stopping action from the very start!
