European Poker Tour: Berlin

The Berlin leg of the European Poker Tour has recently drawn to a close with Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky being crowned winner. The final table was tough, there is no doubt about that but Wilinofsky was able to throw off the likes of Martin Jacobson, Joep van den Bijigaart and Darren Kramer to claim the glory, the EPT bracelet and the €825,000 in cash.

Wilinofsky went into the final table as the chip leader and was able to stay ahead during the whole 10 hours. Not long from the start, Wilinofsky was involved in a hand that saw him scoop around half the total number of chips in play. Despite some incredible play and some very tough opposition, Wilinofsky was able to hold onto his lead throughout.

This win at the EPT is his first live tournament win, despite having notched up over $1 million in online games and tournaments. At just 22 years old, this is quite an achievement. The first player to go out on the final table was Economics student Jonas Gutteck. Joep van den Bijgaart was the next player to bust out of the event although he went away with €100,000. It was very quick until the next player was down, Darren Kramer. His sixth place win earned him €140,000.

Next out was Armin Mette from Heidelberg. with Martin Jacobson following in fourth place. Third place went to Vadzim Kursevich which left just Wilinofsky and Max Heinzelmann in play. Although Heinzelmann managed to get a few more chips under his belt early on, he was unable to seal the deal. Wilinofsky walked away as winner of the EPT in Berlin.

There are two further stops for the European Poker Tour this season. The next event will be taking place in the Italian city of San Remo, with the grand final taking place not long after in Spain’s capital, Madrid.
